UAE Celebrations: Eid Al Adha Holiday Begins Today! COVID Rules and Places to Visit

Eid Al Adha is the second Eid (festival) that is celebrated by Muslims. On the occasion of Eid Al Adha, Muslims offer sacrifices instead of a month of fasting.

This Eid is observed and celebrated in the days of Hajj (pilgrimage), which are one of the greatest days of the year.

The day starts by offering the Eid Al Adha prayer. Once offered, people remain seated to attend the Sermon. After attending, they get up and greet each other with humble gestures: Shaking Hands and Cheek Kissing.

However, both of these gestures are now banned by the UAE government to help in stopping the spread of Coronavirus this Eid Al Adha.

There is a bunch of other rules that follow the same purpose. And you can read more of them down below.

However, places for entertainment are not closed, you can still have a pretty good time while following the rules.

Eid Al Adha: Six-Day Holiday!

The official Eid Al Adha Holidays are announced by the government, starting from (Today) Monday, July 19 to Thursday, July 22. In the Islamic Calendar, it marks from Zul Hijjah 9 to Zul Hijjah 12.

Just like in the Eid ul Fitr, the Eid al Adha has become a medium to extend the weekend.

Now the UAE populace is able to enjoy the six-day break on the occasion of Eid Al Adha & Yaum e Arafah (The Day of Arafah).

What is Eid Al Adha?

Eid Al Adha is one of the two occasions of collective celebration. Muslims make their sacrifices on this occasion, unlike the Eid al Fitr which is celebrated after Ramadan without offering similar sacrifices.

The word "Eid" means festival, and so Eid al Adha means the festival of sacrifice.

On both Eids, Muslims celebrate and express their joy by shaking hands and close contact.

The day begins with the prayer and after offering it, they remain seated to hear the Sermon and remain seated so when the Sermon ends.

After that, Muslims shake hands, cheek kissing, and close contact.

However, this time, close contact is one of the things that are banned in an attempt to minimize the spread of Coronavirus.
